Participates in staff development programs and in development and implementation of policy. Maintains a close working relationship with other mulitdisciplinary teams members by attendance of treatment team meetings, department team meetings and educational offerings.
Provides individual or group psychotherapy, Behavior Modification, Marital and Family Counseling, Crisis Intervention, Adjustment to Illness and Disabilities and support or growth groups.
Serves as a Nurse Practitioner within the Department of Behavioral Health. Primary duties include follow up of outpatient mental health patients, triage of emergency walk-ins, new intake evaluations of patients. Serves as a NP providing outpatient care with appropriate hospital staff, care managers and case managers, chain of command, and other community agencies and their personnel as necessary. Ensures quality health care through early identification of patients with continuing care needs, implementation of a safe and effective treatment and ancillary use of resources to reduce hospitalization and optimize mental health of beneficiaries.
Utilizes professional psychiatric assessment skills in working with the assigned patient population and their families to assess their needs. Assessment includes initial patient intake history, mental status exam, social history, and family history. Observes patients closely, evaluating and documenting any significant behavior or reaction patterns during patient encounters. Reports any issues of abuse. Participates as a member of the multidisciplinary team in the outpatient setting in providing additional patient information and related outpatient care planning. Documents and maintains records per hospital and Department of Psychiatry policies. Effectively evaluates and treats with medications and therapeutic mental health patient interventions. Facilitates the use of resources for outpatient therapy, transfer to other treatment facilities or other agencies as required for optimization of care.
This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations.
