This is a Direct Hire Solicitation.

 

This position is for the Embedded Behavioral Health (EBH) initiative in the Behavioral Health Department.  

 

Fort Drum, home of the 10th Mountain Division, is located in Northern New York's picturesque North County. As one of the most historically unique and geographically beautiful areas of the United States, the area offers bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities such as hunting, fishing, boating, sailing, scuba diving, white water rafting, and winter sports of all types. Fort Drum borders Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River, Canada, the Adirondack Mountains, and Vermont. Guthrie Army Health Center is located at Fort Drum, New York, near the city of Watertown. Watertown is located in the scenic 1,000 lakes region of upstate New York.

 

 The Department of Behavioral Health consists of four Embedded Behavioral Health Teams, the Child and Family Behavioral Health System, the Family Advocacy Program, the Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation Clinic, and the Army Substance Abuse Program. The department has over 120 employees in seven different buildings to provide exceptional behavioral health care to Soldiers and Family members. A recruitment or relocation bonus may be authorized.

Responsibilities

As a Physician (Psychiatry), you will:

  • Perform duties of a Practitioner and Consultant in Psychiatry with emphasis on problems of all levels
    of complexity to provide treatment services in any capacity.
  • Make recommendations on major diagnostic and treatment plans.
  • Provide follow-up care for chronic inpatient and outpatient with acute disorders and complications of
    these disorders, such as psychosis, organic brain syndrome, substance abuse/addictions, etc.
  • Prescribe appropriate treatment or referring patients to appropriate specialty clinics.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.  Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.  Additional information about transcripts is in this document.

 

US Citizen

 

1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting

 

Candidates must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
