Overview

Irwin Army Community Hospital (IACH) at Fort Riley, Kansas is searching for multiple, full-time Child Psychiatrists. These positions are Civilian Employment with the Federal Government, and an ideal opportunity for someone looking for great benefits and a rewarding work environment.

 

IACH is currently a 44-bed inpatient hospital with over 25 outpatient clinics. We service a patient population of about 63,000 Active Duty Soldiers, Family Members and Retirees in the area. In 2009 the Department of Defense approved the funding for a new $404 million, 550,000 square foot facility. It will be complete in 2014. This new hospital will be increased to a 47-bed facility, which includes a new, 8-bed inpatient psychiatric unit. IACH is located at Fort Riley, which is nestled in the rolling, Flint Hills of Kansas, between the communities of Junction City and Manhattan. Manhattan is home to a major, Division One college, Kansas State University. Within a short, two hour drive, are the major cities of Wichita and Kansas City, located to the south and east, respectively.

 

Responsibilities

Performs duties as a practitioner and consultant in Psychiatry with emphasis on problems of all levels of complexity. Must come to the position with knowledge and experience providing treatment services in any capacity including, but not limited to, inpatient service, partial hospitalization service, intensive outpatient services, routine outpatient services, consultation liaison services and must be well-versed to transition to any area as required. Provides continuing follow-up care for chronic inpatients and outpatients with acute disorders and complications of disorders, such as psychosis, organic brain syndrome, substance abuse/addictions, etc. and provides psychiatric care for walk-in patients presenting with acute illnesses of minor and major proportions. The employee is expected to exercise initiative and sound judgment in establishing evaluation techniques, developing treatment and rehabilitation plans. Collaborates with physicians in other medical specialties on cases involving complicated and multifaceted problems and provides professional consultation, supervision, and collaborative medical support to other professional staff.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified/Eligible
  • Current, unrestricted Child Psychiatry license
  • BLS certifications
  • US Citizen
