    Fox Army Health Center and its affiliated clinic deliver health care services to a population that exceeds 60,000 beneficiaries in the Tennessee Valley Area. Services include outpatient care in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Optometry, Physical Therapy, Behavioral Medicine and Preventive Medicine. It also provides a robust Pharmacy Service and limited diagnostic services in Laboratory and Radiology.

    DESCRIPTION: Your scope of duties include, but are not limited to:

    • Serves as the Primary Care Manager providing comprehensive primary, preventative, and therapeutic health care service to patients in a Family Health Clinic (FHC) within a Military Treatment Facility (MTF).
    • Use critical judgment to perform comprehensive health assessments, differential diagnosis, and prescribe pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in direct management of acute and chronic illness and disease.
    • Incorporates evidence-based research for medical interventions within the population. Demonstrates critical thinking skills and diagnostic reasoning skills in clinical decision making.
    • Shares clinical expertise as consultant and instructor. Provides direction to other non-physician providers such as Independent Duty Medical Technicians and students assigned to the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) as well as nursing and paraprofessional staff in care of patients.
    • Serves as member of the professional medical staff and participates in various committees, functions and other meetings as directed.
    • Works collaboratively with physicians in patient evaluation, management, and revision of therapeutic plans.
    • Analyze and interpret patient histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses.
    • Order developmental and laboratory tests as necessary to assure an accurate diagnosis.
    • Interpret test results discriminating between normal and abnormal findings.
    • Prescribe drugs to treat specific illnesses.
    • Instruct patient and families regarding the treatment plan and any follow-up required.
    • Obtain information from patient and/or family to identify major complaints, symptoms, or reason for seeking health care.
    • NOTE: May include shift work or rotating shifts (evenings, weekends, holidays).

    In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.  Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.  Additional information about transcripts is in this document.

    1. Must be U.S. Citizen.
    2. EDUCATION: Degree or diploma from a professional Nurse Practitioner educational program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant. A Masters in Nurse Practitioner is preferred.
    3. LICENSURE: Applicants must have an active, current registration as a Registered Nurse or equivalent from a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
    4. CERTIFICATION: Current certification in a Nurse Practitioner specialty (Family Practice) from a U.S. nationally recognized credentialing body such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
    5. To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social).  You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
    6. For positions requiring positive education requirements, or if you are using education to meet all or part of the qualification requirements, you MUST submit a copy of your transcripts or an itemized list of college courses which includes equivalent information from the transcript (course title, semester/quarter hours, and grade/degree earned) in your resume.

    NOTE: Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

    Other Requirements:

    • Personnel Security Investigation required.
    • These positions require a Childcare Background Check (CNACI).
    • These positions are a Testing Designated Positions (TDP) subject to applicant testing and random drug testing. Tentatively selected applicants will be required to sign DA Form 5019 requiring participation in random drug urinalysis testing. A job offer to an applicant who is a not a current employee will be withdrawn if the applicant refuses to be tested. Applicants with verified positive test results shall be refused employment. Applications from such individuals shall not be considered for employment for a period of 6 months from the date of the test results.
    • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.

    • Two year trial/probationary period may be required.
    • These positions are subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. Applicants tentatively selected for appointment to this position will be required to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) consenting to seasonal influenza vaccinations or must provide a recognized exemption.
    • A pre-placement physical examination may be required.
    • Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
