  • This position will be located at the Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital, Department of Behavioral Health in Fort Polk, LA.
  • This work involves treating soldiers with a broad range of behavioral health concerns in specific combat divisions at various locations around the world.
  • Preferred candidates will have completed an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited doctoral graduate program and an APA accredited predoctoral internship.

As a Clinical Psychologist at the Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital, you will:

  • Perform psychological and bio-psychosocial evaluations, using expert knowledge of general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to clinical psychology.
  • Screen and interview patients.
  • Formulate behavioral health interventions appropriate to a primary care setting and assist with implementation and monitoring of treatment plans.
  • Identify, adapt, and apply empirically supported, evidence-based interventions to a broad range of problems presenting in primary care.
  • Plan, develop, and provide lifestyle classes, to include educational and skill-building classes that enhance health and improve functioning.
  • As a primary care team member, provide high level expertise in human behavior to develop specific clinical pathways or best practice programs for targeted patient groups (e.g., patients with acute stress symptoms and PTSD).
  • Provide continuous consultation services for a sub-set of patients who require on-going monitoring and follow-up (i.e., continuity consultations).

Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience performing psychological and bio-psychosocial evaluations; administering and interpreting psychological tests; formulating diagnostic and treatment recommendations and participating in a patient-care team to determine the course and nature of a patient's psychotherapy treatment.

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. Substitution of education for experience is not permitted.
