This position is located at the US Army Medical Department Activity, Behavioral Health Chief at Fort Sill, OK.

 

This position is for the Embedded Behavioral Health (EBH) initiative. This work involves treating soldiers with a broad range of behavioral health concerns in specific combat divisions at various locations around the world.

The city of Lawton is located in southwestern Oklahoma, about 87 miles southwest of Oklahoma City. Recreation can be found at the many parks, lakes, museums, and festivals. Lawton is the fifth largest city in Oklahoma and surrounded by a national treasure, the Wichita Wildlife Refuge. For those desiring a big city atmosphere, Oklahoma City is only 70 minutes from Ft Sill and Dallas/Ft Worth is only three hours away.

Responsibilities

As a Physician (Psychiatry), you will:

  • Make recommendations on major diagnostics and treatment plans.
  • Provide continuing follow-up care for chronic inpatients and outpatients with acute disorders and complications of these disorders, such as psychosis, organic brain syndrome, and substance abuse/addictions.
  • Provide psychiatric care for walk-in patients presenting with acute illnesses of minor and major proportions.
  • Examine and conduct thorough studies of presenting patients.
  • Collaborate with physicians in other medical specialties on cases involving complicated and multifaceted problems.

 

Qualifications

Basic Requirements: Degree: Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicant's graduation. A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country). Position requires a Degree in Medicine, completion of Residency in Psychiatry, Board Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry. In addition to the basic requirements, you must have 1 year of appropriate specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. Specialized experience must be clearly documented in your resume, and must demonstrate skill and ability to perform a full range of psychiatric analysis and treatment for all patients; broad knowledge of psychiatric evaluation and treatment activities to include individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy and somatic therapies; and knowledge of other modalities to include family therapy, pharmacotherapy, community psychiatry and liaison therapy.
