Overview

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

 

These positions are located at the Department of Behavioral Health Embedded Behavioral Health Clinic and the other for Primary Care Clinic, Fort Drum, NY. This work involves treating soldiers with a broad range of behavioral health concerns in specific combat divisions.

 

Preferred candidates will have completed an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited doctoral graduate program and an APA accredited predoctoral internship.

 

Fort Drum, home of the 10th Mountain Division, is located in Northern New York's picturesque North County. As one of the most historically unique and geographically beautiful areas of the United States, the area offers bountiful outdoor recreational opportunities such as hunting, fishing, boating, sailing, scuba diving, white water rafting, and winter sports of all types. Fort Drum borders Lake Ontario, the St. Lawrence River, Canada, the Adirondack Mountains, and Vermont. Guthrie Army Health Center is located at Fort Drum, New York, near the city of Watertown. Watertown is located in the scenic 1,000 lakes region of upstate New York. Museums and historic points of interest include the War of 1812 Battlefield in Sackets Harbor, Boldt Castle, Millionaire's Row, the Antique Boat Museum, lighthouses, Burrville Cider Mill, the Clayton Opera House, and the Jefferson County Historical Society. Additionally, the area provides quaint downtown shopping, on-the-water dining, and family amusements that make Watertown a great place to live.

 

The Department of Behavioral Health consists of four Embedded Behavioral Health Teams, the Child and Family Behavioral Health System, the Family Advocacy Program, the Traumatic Brain Injury Rehabilitation Clinic and the Army Substance Abuse Program. The department has over 120 employees in seven different buildings to provide exceptional behavioral health care to Soldiers and Family members.

Responsibilities

As a Clinical Psychologist, you will:

 

Screen, interview, and perform bio-psychological social evaluations of patients.

 

Monitor and evaluate completeness of patient intakes.

 

Select, approve, and document treatment priorities through a treatment plan.

 

Evaluate and approve referral sources.

 

Conduct therapy, monitor, approve, and document all treatment planning.

 

Review and approve the appropriate modality of each patient.

 

Develop treatment processes, procedures, and plans for patients.

 

Evaluate information, education, and overall effectiveness of therapeutic efforts.

 

Provide emergency behavioral health services.

 

Approve diagnoses and assist with multidisciplinary treatment of patients.

 

Analyze clinical assessments of patients.

 

Monitor all risk management issues and take appropriate action.

 

Establish and monitor objective behavioral outcome measures.

 

Consult with ancillary care providers.

 

Oversee and interpret appropriate tests.

 

Evaluate testing results, diagnostic summaries, and professional development activities.

Qualifications

You must be a US citizen.

 

Basic Requirement for Clinical Psychologist:

 

Degree: Successful completion of a Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements below:

 

Experience required: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.  To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job.

 

Licensure Requirement: A current, active, valid, and unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently offered by a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, Commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction is required.
