Overview

This position is located with Aberdeen Proving Ground's Army Health Clinic, Pharmacy Service in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

 

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

 

This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Preferred Experience: More than 2 years of high-volume retail pharmacy with billing experience.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Review prescriptions for the full range of pharmaceuticals to include controlled drugs on the formulary.
  • Enter prescriptions into outpatient computer system reviewing profile for allergies, drug/drug or drug/food interactions, and duplicate orders.
  • Coordinate with prescriber or pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
  • Provide instructions to patients on proper use of medications, referring questions requiring professional knowledge and experience to the registered pharmacists.
  • Attend the dispensing window for pick up.
  • Determine type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice and pharmacy standard operation procedures (SOPs).

In order to qualify, you must meet the qualification requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year specialized experience which includes filling prescriptions, distributing pharmaceuticals, and utilizing pharmacy based computer systems gained in hospital pharmacies, retail pharmacies, or in pharmaceutical firms or laboratories. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-05.

OR

Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as Pharmacology or a related field of study, from an accredited college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.).

OR

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages
