Madigan Army Medical Center is seeking Medical Assistants to fill vacancies across the hosptial's in various Outpatient Clinics, including Family Medicine, Pediatrics, OB/GYN, Behavioral Health, and Speciality Clinics. As a Medical Assistant you will perform nonprofessional nursing care, appointment clerical functions, and receptionist duties, documentation associated with patient care and treatment, or a combination of all these functions as required.

  • Completes screenings of patients; measures and records intake and output; and notifies Registered Nurse of any abnormal readings.
  • Administers medications subcutaneously, intramuscular, intradermal, and Z-Tract.
  • Administers immunizations as ordered and screened by providers.
  • Receives telephone calls, patients, and visitors to the medical facility, ascertains the nature of the call or visit, obtains identifying information, and determines the nature and urgency of the patient's request.
  • Performs a variety of other support and clerical duties, e.g., compiling data for end of day/monthly reports, maintaing the waiting areas in a neat and orderly manner, performing crash cart checks and immunization refrigerator readings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirement for a Medical Assistant:


This position may be filled at the GS-4 or GS-5 grade level. Grade determination is based on experience and/or education.

Experienced required at the GS-4: Generall, experience alone will not qualify a candidate at this grade leve. Candidates must have at least 2 years of edcation above high school; including 12 semester hours in health care related subjects.

Experience required at the GS-5: One year of medical assistant experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility.

OR Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree, with major study or at least 24 semester hours in subjects directly related to health care.
