Overview

This position is with the Defense Health Agency at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

 

  • This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Named after Medal of Honor recipient, PFC Bryant H. Womack, we are a fully accredited 110-bed, evidenced-based regional medical center and GME facility serving Fort Bragg, the home of Airborne and Special Operations and the largest U.S. Army installation in the world. We manage several outstanding Primary Care practice sites located in Fort Bragg, Fayetteville, Hope Mills, and Linden Oaks.

 

Womack is located in Fayetteville, Fort Bragg which is 2 hours from the beach and 5 hours from the Appalachian Mountains with easy access to I-95 and all points north and south. This central North Carolina location enjoys seasonably palatable weather year-round. Many facilities and services are offered such as first class golfing venues and renowned universities, a skeet range, riding stables, ice skating rink, state-of-the-art fitness centers, daycare, star-quality dining, full service banking, convenience shop, barbershop, and florist.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

As a Nurse (Clinical/Floating) you will:

 

  • Provide independent clinical nursing care for all patients from neonates/pediatric through geriatric.
  • Develops, teaches, and provides patients and family in areas requiring support to facilitate special and innovative approaches.
  • Provides delegation, oversight, and direction of work to personnel of lower-level position.
  • Provides comprehensive age-appropriate nursing care to medical, post-surgical, patients based on physician's medical care plan.
  • Provides an advanced level of specialized nursing care to adult critically ill and injured patients.
  • Performs triage and provides nursing care to patients arriving in critical condition.
  • Performs comprehensive nursing support to all patients in the Perioperative Center.
  • Performs independent, comprehensive telephone and clinical triaging.

Qualifications

US Citizen Required

 

Must possess at least one full year of professional in patient nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or above) which includes performing float and staff nursing care and medical treatment services impacting patients varying from neonates/pediatric through geriatric.

 

Must be a Registered Nurse

 

Degree or diploma from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the program was completed by the applicant.

 

Active, current registration as a professional nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.

 

All Health Care Providers must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) Training and certification that is sponsored or endorsed by the American Heart Association (AHA). Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.

 

Exemption: You are exempt from the basic requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before.
