Overview

This position is located in the Pediatrics Clinic Camp Pendleton, in San Diego California.

Oceanside is a coastal city in California. It's known for palm-dotted Harbor Beach and nearby Oceanside Harbor, with its marina and shops. To the south, the long Oceanside Pier juts into the Pacific Ocean. The California Surf Museum traces the sport's history with a surfboard collection and exhibits on famous surfers. Sculptures, paintings and drawings from the region are on display at the Oceanside Museum of Art.

 

Southern California is a highly populated area that continues to grow at a very rapid pace. Camp Pendleton area is so large that it borders several cities and three counties. Camp Pendleton is directly north of the city of Oceanside, CA with a population of 176,193 people. San Diego County, which borders Camp Pendleton to the south and southeast, has a population of 3,337,685. Riverside County, which borders Camp Pendleton to the east, has a population of 2,423,266. Orange County, which borders Camp Pendleton to the north, has a population of 3,190,400. While Southern California is vastly populated, it gives our service-members options and varied opportunities of living, either be city living, beachfront living, or country living and all these opportunities offer plenty of recreational options for the service-members and their families.

 

Responsibilities

As a Practical Nurse you will:

 

  • Provide individualized nursing care to pediatric patients of all ages based upon the physician’s medical care plan, the nursing assessment, and the physical, mental and emotional needs of the patient.
  • Administer oral, intradermal, subcutaneous, intramuscular immunizations to all pediatric age groups in accordance with established protocols.
  • Review laboratory results and brings abnormal results to the attention of the physician and per physician’s instructions, telephones patients regarding any follow-up care that is required.
  • Review expiration dates for medications, vaccines, and supplies; and initiates the reorder.
  • Document interventions and patients’ response to care.

Qualifications

US Citizenship required

 

 

Licensure: A current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.

 

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:

Education/Experience: A diploma or associate degree in professional nursing and one full year of professional nursing experience which includes in a hospital, outpatient clinic, nursing home, or other supervised medical, nursing, or patient care facility that provided a practical knowledge of human body structure and sterile techniques and procedures, performing such duties as: performing patient care such as taking vital signs; assisting healthcare providers with medical procedures; utilizing a health care information system to input patient data/update records. This definition of experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade level in the federal service (GS-04). (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

OR

Education: A bachelor's degree in Nursing with no experience.

OR

EXEMPTION: You are exempt from the qualification requirements above if you are a current federal employee occupying a position in the 0610 occupational series and have been continuously employed in this occupational series since September 27, 2017 or before. Applicants claiming this exemption must meet the requirement below. Note: You will be required to provide appropriate documentation to the respective Human Resources Office to validate your status
