Welcome to Presidio of Monterey, home of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center. With historic ties to the Spanish colonial era, the Presidio of Monterey as U.S. military installation dates to July 7, 1846  when Commodore Sloat landed his troops unopposed in Monterey during the Mexican-American War and first raised the U.S. flag in Alta California, claiming its territories for the United States.  Monterey is the last Presidio in California to have an active military installation.

Duties

• Serve as an Ambulatory Nurse.
• Perform independent, comprehensive telephone and clinical triaging and facilitate care coordination through a multidisciplinary approach.
• Screen walk-in patients to assess the severity of the patient's condition and the need for provider intervention.
• Recognize and report abnormal test results, changes in symptoms and the need for follow-up.
• Record data on patient charts.
• Assess patient's emotional, cognitive, social and motivational status relative to education and determines their educational needs and priorities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

US Citizenship required

Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States; and you must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.

Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Must possess a graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program . This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs, Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
