Downtown San Diego is located on San Diego Bay. Balboa Park encompasses several mesas and canyons to the northeast, surrounded by older, dense urban communities including Hillcrest and North Park. To the east and southeast lie City Heights, the College Area, and Southeast San Diego. To the north lies Mission Valley and Interstate 8. The communities north of the valley and freeway, and south of Marine Corps Air Station Mirmar, include Clairemont, Kearny Mesa, Tierrasanta, and Navajo. Stretching north from Miramar are the northern suburbs of Mira Mesa, Scripps Ranch, Rancho Penasquitos, and Ranch Bernado. The far northeast portion of the city encompasses Lake Hodges and the San Pasqual Valley, which holds an agricultural preserve. Carmel Valley and Del Mar Heights occupy the northwest corner of the city. To their south are Torrey Pines State Reserve and the business center of the Golden Triangle. As a Physician Internist you will:

• Serve as a recognized authority in Internal Medicine for the residency program, providing expert-level instruction, curriculum development, and high-level clinical oversight for students and residents.
• Direct and perform diagnostic and therapeutic internal medicine procedures.
• Attend key medical meetings and conferences and serves as a subject-matter expert on areas of inpatient medicine.
• Manage high-acuity medical care for hospitalized patients as an Attending Physician on the inpatient internal medicine service.
• Direct the comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and longitudinal management of patients.
• Direct the delivery of advanced clinical education by designing and facilitating formal didactic sessions, high-acuity case conferences, and specialized bedside instruction, translating complex medical theories into practical applications

US Citizenship Required

Board Certified Internal Medicine

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy from a school in the United States or Canada approved by a recognized accrediting body in the year of the applicants graduation. [A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school that provided education and medical knowledge substantially equivalent to accredited schools in the United States may be demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) (or a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country).

Must have a permanent, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
