We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker Mental Health Consultant to join our team at Hickam Air Force Base (Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam), Hawaii.

Salary: Up to- $121,482 per year with an additional 8.64% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA).

Hickam AFB

 

The Hickam AFB Medical Facility, officially known as the 15th Medical Group, is located at 755 Scott Circle (Bldg  559), Hickam AFB, HI. It operates as an outpatient clinic for active-duty members and their families.

 

 

Responsibilities

As a Mental Health Consultant at Hickam AFB, you will serve as a critical subject matter expert, bridging the gap between direct clinical care and command-level health strategies.

 

 

Patient Care & Documentation:

  • Conduct brief, targeted biopsychosocial assessments.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions in 30-minute appointments using a stepped-care model.
  • Treat chronic conditions, insomnia, acute stress, and health behaviors.
  • Triage/refer complex cases to Specialty Mental Health.
  • Complete concise electronic medical record documentation within 72 hours of the visit.

 

Consultation & Team-Based Care:

  • Provide immediate, succinct feedback to Primary Care Managers (PCMs).
  • Actively drive same-day "warm handoffs" and increase clinic-wide service penetration.
  • Review daily PCM schedules ("scrubbing lists") and participate in morning huddles.
  • Offer continuity consultation to monitor long-term patients and prevent relapse.

 

 Educational Activities :

  • Develop and lead educational classes focused on coping skills and behavior change.
  • Train primary care clinic staff to recognize symptoms and optimize PCMHI referral pathways.

Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship required.

 

Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited institution.

 

Active, unrestricted Clinical Social Work License (e.g., LCSW, LICSW) permitting independent practice from any U.S. jurisdiction.
